Between 2010-2012 Artists Lucy LeClaire and Vela Vox met fortnightly to have loop pedal jams in Little Blue Skeleton Studios. Like in the salons of the past, this informal gathering was a means to find a new voice by moving away from product- driven music-making and to find creativity without pressure, goal or time limit. Anything available was used to build track; from instruments played traditionally or untraditionally to household objects, hoovers, voices and body percussion. Then the artists would use the built compositions to improvise, freestyle and write songs. Over time the sessions expanded to include guest artists and musicians and became an invaluable tool to help both artists re-emerge with renewed strength.
Lucy LeClaire is currently using these compositions to build her first spoken word/music EP.
